Does Sensa Work? A Real Life Review

A long time ago, back when I was regularly doing product reviews, the lovely people at Sensa sent me a package of Sensa sprinkles for me to try. Why did you never hear about it back then? Well, because I didn't think it was even blogworthy. It seemed like such a lame idea that I didn't want to waste my time writing about it, or "trying" it for more than a few days. Since back then, I told them I would try their product and *possibly* write a review about it, I had no pressure to actually write it. In fact, I put reviews on the back burner completely and simply turned down everything I was offered (except Medifast) for awhile. But the other day, I was cleaning under my bed and found a box full of Sensa sprinkles. Ah, the memories! So just for fun, I'd like to tell you about my experience with Sensa.

Basically, Sensa is supposed to work by triggering your "Sensory Specific Satiety" and making you feel full faster. That means Sensa is supposed to enhance smell and flip your "I feel full" switch sooner, so theoretically you will stop eating sooner, thus eating less and losing weight. You can read the clinical study Sensa conducted here, which showed an average weight loss of 30.5 pounds in 6 months.

So I got these little plastic containers of Sensa sprinkles and the instructions said to sprinkle it over everything I eat. There were two different kinds: one for sweet foods, and one for savory foods. You just shake it on the outside of everything you eat. It supposedly has no taste, only a smell. So I tried it.

First of all, it becomes terribly annoying to carry these shakers everywhere and before you eat a bite of anything you have to shake this stuff on it. "Hey Mary, try a bite of these low fat whole grain energy bars I made!" "Okay, hang on while I shake this stuff on it first." "Hey Joe, want some pretzels while we watch the game?" "Sure man, first let me shake my Sensa over the bowl." "Hey Lori, how about some fresh carrot sticks and grapes?" "Awesome! First let me spray it with a fine mist* and sprinkle my powder on them!"

*If the sprinkles won't stick to your food, Sensa suggests spraying the food with a fine mist of water before sprinkling.

Second, you are not supposed to use the sprinkles on anything that is not solid or semi-solid. So if you are eating a lot of cream soups, or milkshakes, or if you have a problem with sodas or lattes, this is not going to help you there.

What's good about Sensa? Well, it has no harmful ingredients. There are no stimulants or anything bad in there so there are supposed to be no side effects. In fact, the ingredients list includes only Maltodextrin (derived from corn from the USA), Tricalcium Phosphate, Silica, Natural and Artificial Flavors. They do warn that there are soy and milk ingredients in the flavorings, though, so if you are allergic, be aware of that.

What else is good? It's simple. You supposedly don't have to change your diet or exercise (hmmm...). It takes pretty much no effort.

But I didn't see any results, either. The thing is, if you are like me, "feeling full" is not going to stop you from finishing that piece of cheesecake. So even if Sensa trips your full switch sooner, it will have no effect unless you actually stop eating at that point.

Now, as for how it works and the experience itself:

I dutifully sprinkled the savory Sensa on my veggies, on my sandwiches, on my rice. After awhile, I noticed it smelled pretty much exactly like onion powder. And that got annoying. Seriously. If *everything* you eat smells like onion powder, YES, it gets old and you get sick of it and it becomes a turn-off. Is that how this is supposed to work? It did turn me off. And the sweet sprinkles? They smelled pretty much exactly like crushed-up Smarties. I put them on my pudding, my strawberries, my cereal. And after a very short time I was quite sick of smelling Smarties every time I ate. But instead of eating less, I just quit using the sprinkles.

Every month there is a new little box of "different" smelling Sensa sprinkles so that your senses don't get used to the smell and acclimate. So you get new smells every month. All this for only $59 for a one-month starter kit (on sale at the time of this review; regular price is $79) or $289 (down from $354) for a six-month supply. Yikes!! Although you can find it cheaper on Amazon sometimes; check out the customer reviews while you're there... interesting stuff.

I would like to humbly make the following recommendation:

Get two shakers at the dollar store. Salt & pepper shakers or whatever. Fill one with onion powder, and fill one with crushed Smarties. Now put them on everything you eat for 30 days... the onion sprinkles for savory foods and the Smarties for sweet foods. See how you like it. See if it affects how you feel about food and how much you eat. That is pretty much the experience I personally had. No, it is NOT the same as Sensa, because Sensa has no taste... BUT, because taste and smell are so linked in our bodies, the foods DID taste like the smell of the Sensa sprinkles to me. I did, in fact, feel like I was eating food coated in onion powder or crushed Smarties.

So there you have it.

Have you tried Sensa? I'd love to hear your experience!

**UPDATE: As on January 7, 2014, according to CBS News, Sensa has been fined for false advertising. According to the article:

"The marketing company behind Sensa was ordered to pay $46.5 million, but was only determined to have the ability to pay $26.5 million to settle with the FTC.

The FTC said the company “exhorted consumers to ‘sprinkle, eat, and lose weight’” but didn't have the scientific evidence to support these claims.

Sensa Products, LLC was also cited for compensating consumers who endorsed Sensa. The consumers received between $1,000 and $5,000 and free trips to Los Angeles for their statements."

Well, all I have to say about that is, HEY! Where's my money and free trip????

*FTC-required disclosure: A long time ago, Sensa provided me with a box of Sensa stuff for me to try for free. I am getting no other compensation for this review.*

Yeah, if you look at the tiny print under the claims of people losing 30 pounds in 6 months, you'll see they used Sensa as part of a lifestyle including a reduced calorie diet and exercise. Well, duh--there's the weight loss, Sensa or not! These products just piss me off and I'm glad you agree they are a waste of time, especially for people who have a habit of eating beyond the full signal.

My sentiments EXACTLY!! - "The thing is, if you are like me, "feeling full" is not going to stop you from finishing that piece of cheesecake."

I, too, dutifully sprinkled Sensa on all my food - and found that I stopped enjoying the food! This, to me, is no solution at all!! Your advice re. onion powder and Smarties is terrific - and MUCH le$$ expensive for those of us who can't resist the "effortless" pitch! When I tried to resell my unopened Sensa shakers on eBay (where I had bought them, BTW!), the Sensa folks hit me with an infringement claim and attacked my ability to do business on eBay.
Sensa is NON-sensa! Thanks for the reality check, Lyn!

I had such great hope in sensa. I religiously sprinkled everything I ate for two solid months. I also had the drink that came with each box. I did not lose a pound! It should be illegal for them to make the claims that they make. I'm totally dissapointed!

I am very sensitive to smells and found that your review of Sensa is "spot on" about the smell of onion powder. Another gimmick is it makes your food look less appealing because you are supposed to sprinkle it heavily enough to see it and who wants to look at a bunch of crystals that don't dissolve - NO THANKS!! I returned Sensa to my local Costco just after one day. I'll stick with Common Sense and Real Science = Portion Control and Calories Consumed versus Calories Expended !!!

This is probably the funniest review I have ever read. Thank you for mixing humor with honesty. I actually just bought month 1 of the sensa plan and you are so right about the onion powder and smarties smells. Too funny. Hoping it works but not holding my breath.

Anonymous said...

Thank you for your review. I was seriously thinking of buying Sensa. But now I won't. I honestly have a problem with eating too much. My brain knows when to stop, problem is that I STILL don't stop. Food has become my feel good drug. I'm gonna have to find something else to feel good instead of food.

I used it for 6 wks no weight loss. I did better when I just stopped drinking diet soda. I never saw a reduction in what I ate or how much from the product. Still no magic cure for weight loss. Back to Vegas and the gym. Uck...

Just saw an infomercial, after waking up at 2:30 AM, for Sensa...which should have been my first clue. It sounds so great and it was created by a "leading Neurologist". Has to work! Luckily the one study is easily found to be quacky...but I was still kinda sold. How do infomercials do that? That would be the real diet cure. Make infomercials to convince you to eat healthy and workout. Thanks for the funny and honest review! Guess I will stick to the gym and healthy foods.

Funny and honest. Sad a Dr would be so wreckless.

Great review, Lyn!!!! For me, I KNOW I would never stop to "Sensa" my food before a binge so I didn't think it would work for me anyway. And if I am present and mindful enough to stop first to use the Sensa, I would probably not be overeating!!! Love your suggestions!

Great review.. I see why people fall for this kind of stuff.. sprinkle the magic powder on your meal and POOF.. your skinny.. no diet or exersize needed. If its too good to be true.. its too good to be true.

I have tried sensa I lost 20lbs but the smell did stop me from eating. I however liked it but I can't afford it.

I am so glad I checked out Sensa on the Internet after watching the Infomercial. They are so convincing. Loved your very funny comments. Thank you for saving me money. I just finished the 17 day diet and it does work. Have lost 15 pounds in just over a month and never got hungry. Check it out. It is healthy and pretty easy to follow. I was lucky that my husband wanted to try it too so when there are two of you, it can work. Judy

In 3 weeks lost 12 lbs. It really did flip the switch for me. I don't snack as I pack kids lunch. I have actually, with the sweet side, thrown away over half a cookie. My one cookie I have as a treat in my lunch box has actually stayed there for over a week. I see a difference, really! I hope it continues. Do wish it was cheaper. Might have to try the ground Smarties! LOL

Thanks for being honest . Sprinkle sprinkle oh my God . This have been a great help in my desision . Keep doing weigher watcher .

Best review I have ever read! I am almost sprinkling onion powder on my food to see how it is...
My mom bought it and asked me to read about it.
Why do people buy it, then read reviews (or ask your oldest daughter to do so?). I would've never let her waste her money on something like this if she asked me sooner.
I will def tell her to stop buying it cause I know she wont leave that last piece of cheesecake just cause she feels full!

I think the secret to any of the weight loss gimmicks out there is using them in conjunction will better diet and exercise. I am just starting Sensa and I am realistic about the fact that it's not going to stop me from overeating, but I think it helps get me in the mind-set. I can do it on my own, I have before, but a kick start or a boost is what I needed at this time. There is nothing out there that will melt pounds without putting in the effort.

I have an over eating problem, and i think anyone with this problem will love sensa! Its been a week and i have lost 2 pounds :) I have always worked out and eaten semi healthy but I don't have a full button, I am the bottomless pit. I don't feel full unless someone takes my plate and I wait 20 minutes before eating something. With sensa I feel full halfway through my meal, then i take one more bite and stop! I can see the difference the most in my stomach. Finally my gym sessions are starting to show!

I heard about Sensa on the radio and thought I would try it. They offer a FREE 30 day trial. I ordered it, and I did use it for the 30 days for free. It did absolutely NOTHING for me. It didn't seem like it curved my appetite at all. It's nothing but some chemicals that someone put together and decided to try to sell it as a weight loss program. After the 30 day FREE trial, if you don't cancel, they will charge you $89.95 a month. To start with, it is EXTREMELY overpriced and secondly, it doesn't work. Just another way for someone to scam people out of their money and "get rich quick"! My advice is DON'T BUY IT!!! SCAM...SCAM...SCAM!!!!

I'm going to try the homemade version of Sensa and see how it goes ;) thanks for the helpful review

I saw a woman sprinkle it all over a huge piece of extremely greasy pizza at Costco and she finished it all
So where does the Sensa come in?
I would not eat that with or without Sensa......
So why not just eat everything i moderation?

Anonymous said...

thank you! just saved me money and time!!!!

Anonymous said...

Sensa does not work! I started month 4 and still had not lost 1 pound so I called to cancel. If it worked they would not have offered my next 2 months for free if I continued my auto ship and pay. I would only now pay 60.00 per shipment. And they also said I didn't give it enough time-come on! Just think of all the people they keep on this for 6 months. That's a great cash cow!

I have not tried sensa but it worked for my friend she 89lbs and i think it will work for me cause when im full i do know how to put the cheesecake down i think it depends on the persons problem mine is its hard for me to stay or feel full unlike some people that it doesn't work for because they are inlove with taste.

The best word I know to describe the Sensa program is "Fraud". It does not work! Don't waste your money.

I've tried everything so desperate, I've tried Sensa now. I've lost five pounds in two weeks. If definitely doesn't "enhance" the flavor of food as claimed, more in line with what you said - I don't get onion, but I get something "off." And it makes me not want to eat the food anymore and to feel turned off by it. hey, if I walk away from food, then it's working! It doesn't make me want to stop sprinkling, it makes me want to sprinkle more of it! Like Pavlov's dog - the site of the package makes me feel a little ill but that's OK with me! I'm an "emotional" eater too but I'm really not craving any of my favorites right now. So - pro Sensa!

You know this blog is probably the easiest research I have ever done. I guess was looking for the magic powder. Anyway something that comes to mind that I am going to try is not eating until I am "FULL" I read so many posts that " I never feel full" or I eat after I am full. I am going to try eating until I am satisfied. I hate feeling full and lathargic. Just a thought and realisation on my part. Best to All.

Denise Chapman said...

Ive used Sensa for almost 1month with no results. I Don't use the sweet much but have notice an odd smell while using the salt side. Now i know what it is. I thought the food was bad. So i threw it out. I am not good at telling when I'm full until I'm stuffed . I usually eat fast and on the run. I'm the lady who sprinkled the greasy pizza. I will complete this months and use next months then decide. I got my sensa from Amazon because it was new sealed and fresh and i didn't want a hassle if i didn't like it.

I got the trial in the mail a week ago. I do forget sometimes to srpinkle. However I have noticed that it tastes off after awhile of eating. I don't eat as much. I just threw away half of a yummy pumpkin crumb cake. I think things taste less sweet to me. Not sure if I will loose weight or not. I am just willing to tey anything. I eat by taste, if something tastes good I eat it, so maybe this will reduce my eating habits. I do feel full faster and stop too. Maybe its just different bodies and temperment. I hope it works.

If any of you are set with using Sensa here is a tip with purchasing their products. If you can believe this. The monthly shaker kits are cheaper from www.costco.com not only cheaper, each month contains 30 packets of their Orange Crush drink mix, just add one each day to a bottle of water. Not only that, if you want to try the appetite control chews for between meals Sensa charges you just a couple $$ less than Costco for their packages. The differenc? Sensa's packages only have 30 in them and Costco has 60! Even when Sensa had a b.o.g.o 1/2 price Costco's price was still a bit more than half of Sensa's. On top of it all, Costco ships free and charges no taxes! Sensa's first month free, pay if you like it or send it back ends up costing so much more. Why would you be able to buy from a 2nd vendor so much cheaper than directly from Sensa. Think they need to figure it out. I also just read GNC has a kit of Sensa now also. Two months, some drink mixes, along with a few chews. WAKE UP SENSA! They are milking from those who really can't afford the product but think getting it free may be a good start. Then before you know it the next month arrives!

Just finished 30 days and gained 3 lbs! When I contacted Sensa I was told that never happened. I had quit smoking about 10 mos. ago and still have a diminshed sense of smell. According to them under those circumstances Sensa won't work.. You have to have a fully functioning sense of smell. Okay--but could't they have put that in their advertising before I spend the money? A little truth in advertising might help--not useful for ex-smokers who have not recovered their full sense of smell!

I woke up early and turned on the TV and watched a Sensa infomercial. I am a smart educated woman and I can STILL get so suckered into those things...
But before I called to purchase, I thought I would do some research online. LOVE this review.
And it answered my big question: If I am an overeater who doesn't care whether or not my body is sending me "I'm full now" signals, will this product work?
Oooops, nope. Thanks for saving me my hard earned cash : )
I'M GONNA KEEP READING THE BOOK "Intuitive Eating" by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch and begin the process of "Making Peace with Food, Free Yourself from Chronic Dieting Forever, Rediscover the Pleasures of Eating: A Revolutionary Program That Works".
How can I have pleasure eating if everything tastes like onion powder?
Wish me luck on my journey. I threw my bathroom scale in the trash yesterday, that's a big deal for me!!

I just can't believe that people could believe just because you sprinkle Sensa on your food it would work. There is only ONE way to lose weight and that is burn off what you eat. Watch you portion size most are only a 1/2 cup serving. if you eat as a diabetic diet I guarantee you will loose weight.

Add cabbage to your dinner. You only need half a cup. It's all fiber so its filling and goes right through you. Drink apple and pear smoothies (with water, 6 ice cubes, unsweetened fiber powder, no filler protein powder, and stalk of kale.) Also, 1-2 liters of water daily make a big difference. Replace sugary cereals with muesli or unsweetened oatmeal. Make veggie omelets

I've just started, and am only a few days into the program but I think it may work a little for me. I notice a little "off" smell, but I like a lot of flavoring on my foods and the smell doesn't overpower anything.
We went to the movies last night and I dutifully sprinkled it on my popcorn. Half way through my small bag, I'd had enough and put it down. It still tasted good, I just didn't want anymore.
I haven't noticed any side effects. I'm going to stick with this a few weeks and see how it goes.

Funny funny and wonderful review :-) Thanks for supporting my (wobbly) thought that this was not a great idea. Reading the ingredients made me go "Huh?" Back to healthy eating and working out....

To Anonymous who wrote on Dec. 19 "Just finished 30 days and gained 3 lbs...." If you were watching what you were eating and were still gaining weight this long after quitting smoking you might want to have your thyroid checked. One symptom of low thyroid is diminished sense of smell - you should have a LOT of smell back after 10 months. Another symptom is "smoker's voice" or a rough, gravelly voice. What I found out belatedly was that when you take away a stimulant (nicotine!) you can further stress an already compromised thyroid. Don't start smoking again, though! Just do some good research and see if you have some other things that need support or help!

Great Review. Losing weight is simple math as some poster said- you MUST consume less calories than you expend. There are differnt types of calories, but if you are serious, go to a Bariatric Dr. and get appetite suppresants, vitamins, protien shakes, and meal plans. Excerise,do something fun that you will keep doing, but you don't HAVE to, it just burns calories so you lose faster. Most people KNOW what & how much to eat, just looking for a magic solution, and your Dr. is the closest thing to it. Your Dr. can also advise if you are candidate for any type of surgery, if necessary. It's the only SURE way if you don't have the will power. Will power is the only magic solution, but your Dr. can help, so rest easy that there is help between God & your Dr.

You all have not read any small print at all. I started it today. I read fully the terms and conditions and it clearly states several times that after 30 days you will be enrolled in automatic shipment. The first $89.95 comes out after 30days. Some advice, if something seems too good to be true it probably is. I'm fully aware of what I am buying. II've studied it and it also says several times ...Do not expect instant results. You may have to use Sensa for a few months! Really people? If everyone said,"Jump off a bridge", you would! No one is going to change my mind. Everyones body is different. What doesn't work for some may work for others. I'm a nurse. I'm not gullible or easily convinced of anything. Fact is it's not going to hurt me so it's worth a try. Nothing else has worked. Maybe this will be a jumping off point for me. Or you. Try and have faith in God and yourselves. That can achieve anything!

I used to live in Chicago, home of Dr. Alan Hirsch, inventor of Sensa. I took my son to see Hirsch back in the early 2000s, because my son lost his sense of smell after several rounds of antibiotics. Hirsch's neurological specialty is the sense of smell. Visits were very expensive (at the time, $800 a pop), and health insurance didn't cover it. After 3 visits and exhaustive testing, Hirsch told me my son had no sense of smell, a fact that Hirsch was proud to have 'discovered'. Well, HELLO! We knew that, that's why we were there. Hirsch offered no advice or assistance, except for some vague info about a clinic on the east coast that specialized in anosmia (my son's non-smelling condition). I am fully not surprised at the Sensa product. It's about as thought-through as my experience with said Dr. A lot of 'excitement' about a fact that is self-evident, something you could figure out for yourself, without spending a whole lot of money.

I have been using Sensa for 9 months and I have lost over 30 lbs. and am stil losing. It does curb my appetite and is very easy. You have to stick with it.

I did Sensa for 3 months and lost 28 pounds, but I also was more conscious of what I ate, and worked out a little more, so who knows if it actually helped. I think I was determined not to let my money go to waste more than anything. I'm sure it was at least 75 percent psychogenic (I'm also a registered nurse). Did anyone notice how on the infomercial Patty Stanger was complaining about being a size 8, and how relieved she was to get down to a 4? Really Patty? Really? That sooooo annoyed me!

Hey thanks for saving me some $$!

I have found that a combination of strategies works for me...I have been in a yo-yo juggling contest betw gaining and losing weight for years. I struggle with VERY low thyroid, and I do take meds for it, but I still have trouble with the weight gain. My sis-in-law lost lots of weight by a strategy she called, "Just Eat Half!" Whenever my husband and I go out to eat, I just eat enough to feel satisfied, then ask for a "to go" box, and use the rest as a meal for the next day. That way, I feel like I am not wasting money or food by leaving half on my plate.

I try to NOT buy any sweets from the grocery store, because if they are anywhere near me at home, I will eat them, especially ice cream.

My brother, who is a string-bean, clued me into "Hoodia." He said it worked for him, so I have been taking it, and when I use a combination of the above strategies, and drink lots of water, I keep away the "See-Food-and-Eat-It," cravings much more.

I also try to keep up the habit of parking far from stores, so I have further to walk.

Everyone is so different, and in our society, we are plagued with bad eating habits, so we are fighting weight gain from all directions. It's big money, and health insurance won't usually cover help for people to lose weight.

I have a feeling all the negative comments are from people who did not truthfully follow the Sensa program. I have lost 39 lbs in almost 4 months. Went from 215 to 176. It worked for me. Now i'm in the maintaining mode as of now. I do work out a few times a week but that was never enough to help me lose what i wanted too. I guess to each their own.

I have been using sensa for 5 weeks now. I used to eat and eat and eat and not feel full. I truly do feel full after eating small portions when using this product. I have also been working out and eating somewhat healthier and have lost 20 lbs thus far. It isn't going to give you any weight loss by just sprinkling it on pizza and other fatty foods. However, with exercising and eating healthy it will curb appetite and show results. Nothing comes easy in life people.

I was debating buying this product. Thanks for saving me $$

I have used Sensa for about a month and have lost weight, about 6 pounds. it makes me eat less. I dont just feel full, I feel stuffed! I guess its not for everyone, but it is working for me.

Im not defending Sensa. I havent even tried it, but diet products are required by law to state that it must be used in conjunction with a diet and exercise program. Not sure if it matters, but thiught i would throw in my two cents.

Hi, I have been using sensa for 2 weeks. I lost 2lb. I get full very fast and have no appetite. I love the chews. Quick way to stop snacking. The way maltodextrin works is actually by expanding in your stomach and bowels by absorbing the liquids there. I don't smell or taste anything. I have been very gassy though;)

OH thank you for making such an honest review! I am a food addict all the way and their is no way that a little sprinkle of Onion will stop me... The only no nonsnese way I have lost weight was a hormone change when I turned 45...I lost 60 lbs who figured... but I still have about 80 to go. I was so hoping that the sensa was some kind of break through but deep down inside I knew better than to trust a 3 AM infomercial.
I am so tired of the infomercials that make hocus pocus look to good. I wish their were a magic pill or surgery that would change my eating habbits but their is nothing other than controlling the amount of food that goes in and the amount of excersize I do. Now that I am over 40 I find that I have to excersize for an hour to two hours a day to keep my weight down and w/ fibromyalgia that is impossible. So unfortunatly that leaves me w/ cutting the food back and with a young family that is almost next to impossible...My day will come and I guess that means NO SENSA

Im sorry that few of you have actually benefitted from this amazing product. Between the whhining and complaining as to the smell ( what that was about) you could have possibly shaken the Sensa across your entire meal while you ranted. I am a Sensa product user and i have lost a good 25 pounds with no change in diet or exercise of which I havent in four months the time which ive been using Sensa.Even with exercise i had hit a plato reasoning why i tried the sensa. Ive went down from a 10-12 to a 6-7 in pants. the proof is in the Sensa. Sorry you did not find the product helpful but you have to be willing to do something. Prices aren't bad what a gym membership costing you.

I am in my mid 50's and have been a yo yo dieter for years: FYI--they all work, the problem is whether we are commuted to doing them or not:-)

I am currently in an exercise renewal phase:--

my wife ordered Sensa from a TV add, but had to stop using it due to acid reflux issues. I started using it simply out of curiosity.

unless it has a massive placebo effect it does indeed kill my appetite. I cannot testify to it's weight loss claims, as I am attributing my loss mostly to the exercise program.

I just ordered a three month supply. A friend of mine who is about the same size and build has lost nine pounds in two months using sensa. I am not able to exercise due to a back injury and am stress eating. I just need a little something to say 'stop' and even if it is onion powder, I am going to try it.

As far as the sweet sprinkles tasting like Smarties, that may not be good. Smarties is one of my all time favorite candies.

I just started using Sensa and it has been very helpful. I'm an over-eater. I never, ever feel full. I'm 55lbs overweight. I've been trying to diet on my own for a while now and never get full, so I'd have seconds (and sometimes thirds). On day 2 of using Sensa it kicked in and I felt full after half of what I normally eat. I hope Sensa continues to work. I have a really great sense of smell, so maybe that's been helpful? I bought a 4 month supply at GNC for a little over $80. At first I was hesitant because of the price. I asked the ppl at GNC to show me something that would suppress my appetite and it turned out that most of the better selling stuff was about $20 for a 2 week supply. So price wise Sense worked out better and I'm glad I bought it because it seems to be working in controlling my appetite.

I always just heard: take the one food/drink that you incredibly hate and throw it on something when you're half way full, then you won't finish it. Sounds like the same concept pretty much.

i started sensa 3 weeks ago and gain 6 pounds i go to the gym spinning and cardio 3x a week so i think the only way to lose weight is with diet and exercise cut down portions and sensa the sweet side is awful

I have been using sensa for three months now . I started at 170 pound and i only lost three pounds. My weight keeps going up and down and i am not loosing any more than the three pounds. I sprinkle sensa on everything I eat. I work out at the gym three times a week. I am very dissapointed with this product!! I personally dont recommend this product to anyone!!

Every quick wieght lose products products are desgined to make money. That is the driving force behind it all. Some of these work short term, but none of them can be carried out long term. Not practical nor for most, not affordable. It is a quick fix for a long term problem. People use food as a form of self abuse. Unconscience eatting is one of the biggest problems. I never eat standing, watching TV, driving...ect. It's quite simple, eat less move more. If a person tries to quite eating too much and can't, get help from a professional. Overeaters Anonymous would be a good start.

I have been using Sensa for six weeks and have lost a total of 8lbs so far, 1-1.5 pounds every week! It does really curb my cravings. This is the first thing that has worked for me without side effects. I am able to eat healthier and eat half of what I use to because I dont have horrible cravings like I did before using it. You can all bash it and be skeptical all you want but it works for me and I couldnt be happier!

Thanks for the reviews. Was going to buy Sensa seeing that I have a back injury and cannot do any meaningful exercise. I guess I was about to buy the. "Brooklyn Bridge". Thanks for reminding me that I really couldn't take it home.

I am going to try it. My mom, who recently turned 70 is running out of clothes to wear because she is loosing so much weight with this. She can't excersize due to knee and back issues. It may work for me and it's worth a try. But thanks for the info on where to buy it. I'll stick with stores like Costco that won't take money out of my account.

I bought my first month of Sensa yesterday at BJ's Wholesale Club. A girl at work is using it and it seems to be helping her. I've only seen it briefly on the infomercial and would never buy anything from them just knowing the problems people have trying to convince a voice on the phone they want to cancel!
I've been on Weight Watchers and lost recently, but due to some events in my life, it's back on. I'm hoping the appeal of food (taste is a big thing with me) will be lost. Years ago, I did Metabolife and it did curb my appetite, but you always had to increase the dosage. They were expensive in 1990 dollars, one bottle was ridiculous, so buying more was just unreal!
Watched the SENSA DVD and it was crack up as well as their website....some of them actually have *Cash Prize Winner* under their pictures. I'll see where I am next month.

Oh Great!! I literally just ordered it on Amazon, BEFORE I read this blog and comments. Can I cancel? How do I cancel the order?

YAY! I was able to cancel my order thru Amazon after all. Thanks for the heads-up! :-)

Well, I'm just going to state my experience with this. I started with it in January and I am now on month 6 of the product - 2 weeks remaining till I finish the full 6 month 'program.' Oh....how have I done? I've lost 35 pounds and counting!! Briefly, once I got in the habit of sprinkling it on everything it has been no big deal. I DO NOT find that it has any kind of bad taste or aftertaste. I've seen comments about how it only helps to make you feel full but doesn't stop you from finishing what's on your plate and my reaction to that is ...... you feel full!! STOP EATING!! Or, start with a smaller helping of food in the first place. If it helps you feel full after eating less food than it's doing what it says. The rest is up to you.
Honestly, I'm not sure if the chemistry of the product has done it for me or if just using it has made me more aware of what I'm eating and how much but the facts are the facts - I'VE LOST 35 lbs IN 6 MONTHS! Give it a chance and listen to your stomach when it says 'I've had enough' and there's a good chance you'll lose some significant weight too. Good luck. I hope this will be a little helpful to some of you.

Ok you guys should not get Sensa. To be honest it's like an experiment in statistics with control group.

If given a product that says will surpess your hunger if spinkle, of course your mind will think "ok i'm going to lose weight because with this handy powder, I won't eat much."

I'm a chemistry major and I've looked at the ingredients. They're all natural and it will not harm your body, but it does not, ABSOLUTLY, does not help you with weight loss.

Sensa doesn't burn the fat for you, this is just a psychological game with sensa as the medium to make you think otherwise when eating food.

That's my experience with sensa, and I am so glad I told people not to buy it. It's not worth it.

ALSO, if you read that you have to take the first month box only for first month and buy extra, three's no difference. Ingredients are the same, you're still eating the same food. There's nothing healthy about this.

I give props to the creator for making this product to make people think that they are losing weight, when in actuallity it's their mind that played tricks on them.

Just do some kind of workout 1-2 hours a day. Doesn't need to be so hard, but just be consistent. I swim for 1 hour and I dance for 1 hour every day, along with few push ups and sit ups and squats.

Don't do anything that would discourage you like trying to do a full on mile run if you haven't ran in a while . Take baby steps and you'll get there.

You can still lose weight without Sensa; you can still lose 30.5 lbs in 6 months without sensa.

It's eating healthy and working out.

There is nothing in this would that would make you lose fat without giving effort. Well, if you count lipo then sure. but if you're thinking about saving money, DO NOT BUY SENSA. use that money to go to the gym, buy healthier food, or just buy some gym equipment for at home.

I'm a 20year old college student who's looking for ways to lose my fat, and Sensa is not the way to go. No fat burning pills or gimick products will help you, and that's the fact. If you want to try a product, write down the ingredients and see if there are any substances that actualy burns lipids/fat.

Cheers

Wish I had read your reviews first...what a scam scam scam so sorry i gave them my $$$

I just read your review on sensa and was laughing so hard especially about the salt and pepper shaker. I had to LOL because if this onion powder smell is true it will do nothing for me because I love Italian food and Mexican food. Onions and/or onion powder is a necessity! Thanks for the warning.

Well I hope anyone who believes you will get this FREE trial products reads ALL the TERMS & CONDITIONS. I thought I was just trying it out for $9.95 and then ended up enrolled in their program and automatically charged over $100 for the FREE product! So don't get sucked in by the infomercial because for me it was a real ripoff and theirs nothing I can do about it.

I have been looking for Sensa reviews and this is the best one out there! Thank you for being clear. I think we will get similar results by snapping a rubber band on our wrist every time we eat anything. Having to go get a shaker and put it on your food every time is just a reminder not to eat so much.

THIS IS THE WORST DIET PRODUCT THAT I HAVE EVER USED. ITS SUCH A WASTE OF MONEY AND DOESN'T WORK. THE ONLY PLUS WAS THAT I PURCHASED MONTH ONE AT COSTCO AND DIDN'T GET INVOLVED WITH THE SENSA SITE OR TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE NEXT MONTHS PURCHASE. IT WAS A ONE TIME THING AND IM EMBARRESSED TO THINK I THOUGHT IT HAD ANY MERIT. SAVE YOUR MONEY, IT IS A SCAM AND DOES NOTHING TO CURB YOUR EATTING HABITS,PLUS U LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT USEING IT. SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR FAULTY ADVERTISING-----THE WORST!!!

Beware FREE OFFER. If you cannot use Sensa because of milk or soy allergies you will STILL pay postage to return the product. Customer Service is nasty and insistent that they have your credit card and you WILL PAY not matter what!! DON'T EVEN USE THIS STUFF!!

I love this stuff, say what you want but it is great. I can still eat what I want and YES over time I noticed I eat less of it. I do not stick my nose down on my food and see how Sensa changed the smell because the taste of food is really not much different. NO SIDE EFFECTS, NO BAD INGREDIANTS. I tried it a few months ago and stopped after a week thinking not much different in weight. Then someone told me she has lost 35 pounds in 3 months with Sensa, so I got it back out of the shelf and tried again. I have lost 7 1/2 pounds in 17 days. I noticed I am fuller longer and the nervous eating has just about stopped. You need to give it a month. As I lost weight it gave me a renewable spirit to actually eat healthier. I have about 50 pounds to loose and carrying a little shaker around and putting on food I can handle. It is a lot better than feeling starved and limiting what I like in foods.

Sensa Addict said...

I also love this stuff, I started back in December of 2012. Lost 40 lbs in 5 months. Since then I gained back around 9 lbs. As far as I am concerned even if this is psychological it works. In the past I tried all the different months that are available 1 thru 6. Some of them I could not stand because they smelled so bad, I quit using those. Currently I use 1st month only and I am able to keep my weight off without any excercise. Again, even if it's psychological, it worked for me.

I understand where you are all coming from, seeing how it may just be a gimmick and a money scam. However, it is basic common sense that simply eating healthy is not enough for weight loss and exercise is crucial. A majority of people are naive to believe that Sensa will be the sole factor that allows them to lose X amount of pounds. If Sensa works for certain people, does a slight smell of onion powder really matter? I am about to try Sensa, month 1 and see how it works.I have done my research and I will not allow your reviews to influence my decision, if sensa can help me loose even 6 pounds in a month, why the fck not try it! I am an active person and do mainly try and eat healthy, I have just plateaued at an uncomfortable weight and I am not very disciplined in clean eating so I will try sensa and see how it goes. I do not believe sprinkling sensa onto my food will be the magical key to weight loss, but sprinkling sensa onto a salad after a nice 4k run might be. Stay tuned my fellow skeptics. Feel free to email me and ask about my progress!!! *** megan93.x@hotmail.com

I was one of the unfortunate people who paid to test this product before it was released under the name "Sensa." In order to try it as "research" I had to pay for several months to receive it. When I was sent a couple of pages to fill out to talk about how I was losing weight. I never lost any weight. But from the way the materials were worded, I was led to believe that other people were losing weight. When it came out on the market as "Sensa" I already knew it didn't work and I was irritated that I had paid for it and done the research for this company (doctor) only to see them make money by conning other people.

From what has happened to people in my life, sensa seems to work better for people who are not exactly overweight, but could shed a few. This is why I'm starting. Thus far I've been snacking free.

This review was amazing! I went looking for reviews after seeing yet another commercial of stupid people dancing around to equally stupid music. When I saw the claims that you can lose an average of 30 lbs in 6 months, I literally laughed out loud! I am on a program through my work called Ideal Protein and I have lost 25 lbs in just 5 weeks!

Sensa is a joke!!
